How to Make a Grinch Drink (Festive Holiday Cocktail)

If you’re planning a cozy Christmas movie night, a green-and-red holiday party, or a full-on “Whoville” celebration, a Grinch drink is the perfect signature cocktail.

This bright green drink looks mischievous like the Grinch but tastes like sweet, citrusy holiday cheer. It’s fruity, fun, and easy to batch for a crowd.

The Grinch Cocktail (Alcoholic Version)

Serves: 8–10 adults

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vodka

  • 1 cup Blue Curaçao

  • 3 cups pineapple juice

  • 2 cups orange juice or lemonade

  • 2–3 cups lemon-lime soda or ginger ale (added just before serving)

  • Juice of 2 fresh limes (optional, for extra tang)

  • Ice cubes

For garnish (optional):

  • Lime slices

  • Maraschino cherries or red candy hearts

  • Red sanding sugar for glass rims

Instructions

  1. Prep your glasses (optional)

    • If you want a full Grinch moment, rim your glasses with red sanding sugar.

    • Run a lime wedge around each rim, dip in red sugar, and set aside.

  2. Mix the punch

    • In a large pitcher or drink dispenser, combine vodka, Blue Curaçao, pineapple juice, orange juice (or lemonade), and lime juice if using.

    • Stir well until everything is fully mixed.

  3. Chill

    • Add a generous amount of ice to the pitcher, or chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before your guests arrive.

  4. Add bubbles

    • Just before serving, pour in the lemon-lime soda or ginger ale and give it a gentle stir.

    • The mix of Blue Curaçao and yellow juices will create a fun Grinchy green colour.

  5. Serve

    • Pour into prepared glasses over fresh ice.

    • Garnish each glass with a lime slice and a maraschino cherry as the “Grinch heart.”

Sober Swap: Grown-Up Who Grinch Punch (Mocktail Version)

Want a booze-free version that still looks and tastes festive? Just swap a few ingredients:

To make it non-alcoholic:

  • Omit the vodka

  • Replace the Blue Curaçao with:

    • 1 cup blue sports drink or blue raspberry syrup, plus

    • 1–2 tbsp orange or lemon juice to keep that citrus note

  • Keep the pineapple juice, orange juice (or lemonade), lime juice, and lemon-lime soda/ginger ale exactly the same.

Mix everything in a pitcher with ice, top with soda just before serving, and garnish with lime slices and cherries so the mocktail looks just like the original Grinch punch.
